AI in Film and Television: A symposium on production, pedagogies and curriculum design

Friday, 16 May 2025, Cardiff

NAHEMI, in association with JOMEC, invites proposals for a symposium to explore the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in film and television production, with a specific focus on approaches, pedagogies, benefits and challenges of incorporating AI in the curriculum. 

We invite proposals for presentations, panels and demonstrations on (but not limited to):

  • AI in Production: creating and manipulating images and sequences, and all aspects of the moving image.

  • AI in scriptwriting, storytelling for the screen, visual effects, animation, editing, sound design, etc.

  • Teaching AI in Film and TV: Curriculum design, pedagogical approaches, integrating AI tools into courses

  • AI tools, applications and issues for the classroom: AI tools and issues in their use in teaching film and television, hands-on demonstrations

  • Ethics and Implications: Ethical use, bias and representation, intellectual property, implications for learning and teaching, impact on employment

  • Future trends: Emerging technologies, AI and personalised content, interactive and immersive media, collaborative opportunities

The symposium will be held at the Cardiff University School of Journalism, Media and Culture, 2 Central Square, Cardiff, CF10 1FS, on 16 May 2025.
