NAHEMI Cinematography Award and Prize for Creative Filmmaking 2012
After a well-attended and thought-provoking screening of outstanding student films at Encounters Festival, the Cinematography Award was presented to NFTS Graduate Lukasc Konopa for ‘After’- In an observation from dusk till dawn, the film portrays the theatre of everyday life around Auschwitz. The director’s camera observes closely but unobtrusively what goes on within and outside the camp. Each situation is a carefully composed world of silence and solitude that resonates with unspoken words and feelings.
The Prize for Creative Filmmaking was awarded to NUCA Animation graduate Alex Searle for his film ‘What is Animation?’ – A comical character-driven animation featuring cameo performances of a series of voxpop interpretations.
Both awards were presented by NFTS Director Nik Powell, and both of the winners have been given the opportunity to attend some valuable short courses at The London Film School and the NFTS.
